Is the Delta SkyMiles Reserve Card Worth It in 2026?
The Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express Card costs $650 a year. You don’t pay that for the earn rate, which is modest. You pay it for Sky Club visits, an annual Companion Certificate, faster Medallion status, and a set of Resy, Delta Stays, and rideshare credits. Whether that’s worth it depends on how often you fly Delta and which of those perks you’d actually use.
Use the break-even below with honest toggles, then open the full MaxPoints calculator to see whether a transferable-points card would net more on the rest of your spend.
Delta Reserve break-even for your spend
Enter rough monthly amounts. Delta purchases earn the bonus rate; most other spend earns the base rate. The perks below usually matter more than the miles.

The fee holds up only if you’d really use the certificate and lounge visits—try turning on just the perks you’re sure of.","not":"With these toggles, Delta Reserve likely isn’t worth $650. The Delta Platinum or a transferable-points card may fit better.","worth":"On these numbers, Delta Reserve clears its fee—mostly from perks you said you’d use, not the miles."},"worthThreshold":75}How we estimate
We estimate Delta Reserve value from Delta purchases at 3× plus dining and everything else at 1×, at 1.1¢ per mile. Only perks you mark as ones you’ll actually use are added. The Companion Certificate starts on because it’s the main reason most people keep this card. Sky Club visits, Resy, Delta Stays, and rideshare start off. Year 1 may include a welcome bonus when modeled; ongoing (year 2+) drops it and keeps the $650 fee. Educational only—confirm terms with American Express.
When it’s usually worth it
You fly Delta often enough to use Sky Club visits on trips you already take.
You’d use the Companion Certificate on a fare you’d buy for two anyway.
You’re chasing Medallion status and the MQD Headstart and Boost move you up a tier.
You’d use the Resy, Delta Stays, and rideshare credits without changing your habits.
When it isn’t
You fly Delta a few times a year and rarely visit lounges.
Most of your spend is dining and groceries, where this card earns only the base rate.
You’d be happy with the Delta Platinum’s certificate and lower fee—see Delta Platinum vs Reserve.
You want points you can move between airlines and hotels.
Tips
Value the certificate honestly. It’s worth the fare you’d have paid for the second seat, minus taxes and fees, and only if you’d book that trip anyway.
Sky Club visits are capped. 15 visits a Medallion Year covers a handful of round trips. Unlimited access needs heavy annual spend on the card.
Put everyday spend elsewhere. With 1× outside Delta, a category or flat-rate card usually earns more on groceries, dining, and bills—see best cards for dining.
Status math is personal. If MQD Headstart and Boost move you up a Medallion tier, that can outweigh the miles. If not, ignore it.
